Overview
Aurora is a concept build for a hotel group running properties in several countries. The job of the page is the one every hotel site has — make someone want to stay, then get them to a booking — but resolved with the restraint a luxury group needs rather than the busy promotional layout most booking sites default to.
Challenge
Hotel sites carry a lot of competing content: properties, room types, destinations, experiences, offers. Presented flatly it reads like a brochure. The challenge was pacing — giving each of those a distinct rhythm so the page feels curated instead of catalogued.
Approach
The hero rotates through three properties with a chapter index, a slide counter and a location badge, so the first screen already says this is a group rather than a single hotel. Below it each section takes a different shape: stacked room categories, a horizontal destination rail, a full-bleed experiences band, and offers as cards.
Design
Warm charcoal with a gold accent and an ivory type scale, a serif display face for headlines against a clean sans for UI, and full-bleed resort photography with a blurred low-quality placeholder behind every image so no section renders as an empty dark block while loading.
Development
React 19 and Vite, Tailwind CSS v4 tokens, and Framer Motion for the hero rotation, entrance staggers and scroll-linked reveals. Booking and search open as overlay dialogs that lock scroll, handle focus and close on Escape.
Responsive Experience
Horizontal rails are the usual cause of sideways overflow on a phone; here every rail sits in a container explicitly allowed to shrink, and the layout was audited at 360, 390, 740 landscape, 768, 1024 and 1440 with no overflow, no clipped text, and every tap target at 32px or larger.
